Hypnotizing, intoxicating and exotic.   Magic Carpet honors ancient music while taking a bold step into the future, transcending geographical boundaries to take listeners on a ride through the sounds of North Africa, East Africa and the Middle East composed of bass, guitar, percussion, saxophone, drums, and keyboards. The diverse background of each musician contributes authentic East African music, Jazz Improvisation and an awareness of the spiritual nature of music.   The group is a vibrant blend of cultures that succeeds in reaching a common goal of excellence in World Music.

What is World Music ? Definitely not a bucket of clichés!   This group relies on its member's experience, openness to learn and disciplined approach to study to achieve a sound that is truly representative of the heart of World Music.   A natural evolution in music, the group builds around a common theme: the Pentatonic Scale. This five-tone system gives us some of the most widely used modes in the more ancient societies of our world. The members of Magic Carpet are masters of their individual styles and listening to them is the opportunity to listen in on a conversation between old friends: the Blues heritage of African-Americans and the ancient music of Ethiopia.
