Fred Jackson has proven to be an accomplished improviser, arranger, composer and producer who has recently released the CD entitled The Birth of Derf. This original collection of work demonstrates his unique style, versatility and fine musical ear in both performance and composition.
Fred E. Jackson received his first saxophone in the 7th grade. This introduction would prove to be the foundation that he needed to pursue his career. A former student of world renowned clarinetist, Alvin Baptiste, Fred has recorded, traveled and/or played with the Michael Foster Project, Doja Composure, High Life Players, Simon Lott, Jimmy Heath, Nicholas Payton, Marlon Jordan and many more. In New Orleans he performed at the famous Tippitina’s Showcase and appeared on the stages of Levon Hemsley at the New Orleans Jazz Festival. His talent has been highlighted on the Travel Channel’s focus on the New Orleans jazz scene and BET.
Fred has opened for such acts as Boys II Men, Kindred Family Soul and many other notable artists. |
